"Once a King or Queen in Mrs. Freed's class, always a King or Queen in Mrs. Freed's class." ~ C. S. Lewis (slightly paraphrased)
Model T Cookies Assembly Line
To understand Mr. Ford's assembly line better, we did a simulation of a cookie car building factory in the early 1900's. Because there were very few regulations or laws that protected workers, the workers could be fired at the whim of the factory foreman (me). Of course, there was no problem getting new employees to take those fired employees' positions, as there were often large numbers of people waiting outside the factory in hopes that a job would become available. The students enjoyed the one perk of working at this factory - they got to eat the fruits of their labor! Yum! Yum!
